What is Applied Behavior Analysis?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services provide individualized, practical support to help families better understand their child’s behavior and build skills that make everyday life easier and more successful.

While ABA is widely recognized for its role in supporting autistic individuals, its evidence-based strategies can be helpful for children and adults with a wide range of needs. We also know that waitlists for comprehensive ABA services can be long. While you wait, we’re happy to help you get started through parent coaching. Together, we’ll identify the behaviors, routines, or skills that feel most overwhelming or important right now and develop practical strategies you can begin using at home right away.

What Do Services Look Like?

Services may include parent coaching and consultation focused on identifying why the behaviors of concern occur and developing evidence-based strategies to decrease those behaviors while teaching meaningful replacement skills. Areas of support may include:

  • Increasing functional communication

  • Developing play and social skills

  • Building independence with daily routines and self-care

  • Toilet training

  • Reducing behaviors of concern and improving cooperation

  • Helping parents respond consistently and confidently to behavior

School Consultation and Support

Behavior analysis services can also help families bridge the gap between school and home. This may include reviewing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) developed by a child’s school team, helping parents understand the recommendations, and supporting the implementation of appropriate components of the plan within the home and community.

The goal is to provide families with practical, individualized strategies that fit naturally into everyday routines while helping children communicate more effectively, develop greater independence, and learn skills that support success at home, school, and in the community.
